The Reuslts were obtained as follows:
1. There werre 3, 046 patients who delivered the babies during the period, of which 439 case were diagnosed and classified as toxemian, therefore the incidence of toxemia was 14.4%.
2. Out of 439 toxemia cases, 75.8% was classified as pre-eclampsia (severe form:47.1%, mild form: 28.7%) and 24.2% was classified as eclampsia (antepartum eclampsia: 13.4%, intrapartum eclampsia: 6.7%, postpartum eclampsia: 4.1%).
3. According to the incidence of toxemia cases by age over the total delivery, the twentieth was in 13.8%, the thirtieth in 14.7% and the fourtieth in 24.7%. There was markedly increase in incidence of toxemia with the advancing age of mother.
4. The toxemia incidence by gestational periods was 36.3% or highest in the group over 454 weeks of gestation.
5. The incidence of toxemia was turned out to increase continuously with the increase of parity.
6. They showed 1£« edema in 43.3% which was the most common and there were 2£« edema or more in 43%.
7. Proteinuria showed similar pattern as in edema (1£«:26.7%, 2£« or more : 52.8%).
8. Within 48 hrs after delivery, systolic pressure showed below 140mmHg in 2.7% but 22.3% of cases showed over 200 mmHg.
9. Within 48 hrs after delivery, systolic pressure showed below 140mm Hg in 60.5% and only in 2.0% maintained high blood pressure over 200mm Hg.
10. Over all the pictures of toxemia 62.1% cases showed 3 fundamental symptoms at the same time.
11. Hemoglobin levels, before and after delivery, was about below the 10gm% in 35.3% of cases, which was suggestive of anemic mother.
